RULES
If you think our rules and attitude to fish care are unnecessary then Echopool is NOT the fishery for you!
If at anytime you are found to be breaking the rules or doing anything which could endanger our fish you WILL be told to leave without refund.
We have spent a lot of time and money on our carp and let’s face it , it is the quality of the fish that make the fishery.
Please be honest with me when you arrive, we all had to start somewhere and I am more than happy to give guidance to those of you who have not caught carp to the sizes that you are likely to catch at Echopool.
Rules may change at anytime without prior notice especially regarding new products.
Rules may also be a bit flexible once you have arrived and I've had a chance to talk to you and witness your ability.
Rules marked with # please see additions at bottom of page.

Additions #
# Maximum of 3 rods per person unless your group contains 4 or more anglers, in this case each member can only fish with 2 rods.
You are fishing for carp in excess of 50lb, please do not turn up with buget rods or reels,(I'm sure you know what I'm talking about) I consider them to be a real danger to my fish. If your unsure please email. You can hire rods and reels from us.
# Hooks ! Hooks are our biggest nightmare, our fish feed very confidently and thus tend to get hooked very deep in the mouth were it is softer and with the wrong type of hook they get torn to pieces! After a lot of testing we have narrowed down hook patterns which hold really well and dont cause too much damage. We require your hooks to have the following characteristics:- Standard or wide gape, Short or medium shank, Medium gauge wire, Micro barbed. No smaller than size 4. We also ask you to fish with a hair long enough to allow a gap of at least 10mm between hook bend and bait. The following are some examples of good hook paterns:-
Korda wide gape barbed,ESP Raptor T-6 barbed, Gardner wide gape talon tip barbed, Nash Fang gaper barbed, there are plenty of others on the market so you should have no problem finding the right type.
# Rig tubing must be used, we have found that without tubing our larger fish were suffering a lot of lifted scales around the wrist and splits in their tails. We previously had this rule at 66cm but we are now seeing fish that wouldn't be protected with this length so have increased it to 1 meter.
# Only boilies made by “Baitcraft” are allowed unless specific permission is given, by doing this we can be almost 100% sure that our fish are getting the very best bait available (not just good for the fish but also the angler) and not shelf life or something whipped up in someone’s garage using ingredients which could cause harm to our fish or water. The bait we sell on site has been specially made to our exact requirements, it is basically the same bait which can be bought in the UK except certain amino acid profiles, calcium levels etc have been slightly adjusted for the benefit of our fish, it has also been matched to our water. There is no problem if you want to bring your own from the UK all we ask is that it still in unopened packaging. For more details on Baitcraft and the partnership we have formed go to “prices” page. In some circumstances we will allow a couple of other baits to be used as long as they turn up in their original sealed bags, please contact us via email with the details of the bait you wish to bring and we'll take it from there. Lots of top baits will not work at Echo pool.
Drinking, Etc!!!! We want everyone who comes to Echopool to have the best possible time and understand that having a couple of drinks, Etc!!! is part of this. What we will not allow is people becoming so drunk, Etc!!! that they are a danger to themselves and especially our fish, we are located in a very rural part of france and it is incredibly quiet, this means that sound travels for miles and although our nearest neigbours are about half a mile away we have had comments in the past with regards to people screaming and shouting. Please be respectful.
